As mentioned in the Prague post we had some interesting coincidences. Meeting the head of school in Prague was one. But the first coincidence happened in Venice. Living within easy driving range of Italy we decided to visit Venice during a half term in early summer. We stayed near Lido di Jesolo and used the local bus and ferry to get to Venice. On the ferry my son realised he knew one of the passengers as he went to Munich International School. This was a surprise as there are ferries twice an hour for most of the day and it was quite incredible to meet another family in such circumstances.
Another coincidence like this happened in Sardinia. We had again driven to Genoa and then crossed to Corsica before driving down to Sardinia. It was one evening while walking after dinner and enjoying an ice cream that I was approached by an English guy who asked me if my daughter went to MIS. It turned out that their daughter did too and recognised us. The even stranger coincidence was they lived only 5 miles from us in Munich and that he had grown up in the same town as my wife. In fact in a neighbouring street!
